VMAs (as picked by Rufus R. Leaking)

Hey All,

Did you catch the VMAs on MTV last night. You didn’t?! I don’t blame you, I can only take so much Gaga too. Your old buddy Rufus has gone ahead and handpicked a solid list of some of my favorite music videos from 2011…. SO FAR! You wouldn’t have seen any of these on the “Music Television” channel last night (accept for one). Here we go!

Best Performance By A Puppet That’s Not Me (And Jon Hamm): Herman Dune – “Tell Me Something I Don’t Know”

Best Use Of Fireworks (Without Emphasizing Katy Perry’s Mammary Glands): Bright Eyes – “Jejune Stars”

Best Use Of The Vivid Imagination Of Kids (While Being Influenced By The Tragedy Of Modern News Media): Is Tropical – “The Greeks”

Best Music Video Debut (By An Artist Who’s Career Spans Over 3 Decades): Lucinda Williams – “Copenhagen”

Best Michael Douglas Inspired Performance: Foo Fighters – “Walk”

Best Live Captured Performance: Local Natives – “Who Knows Who Cares” (Presented by La Blogotheque)

Best Music Video That Makes Me Dizzy: Eskmo – “We Got More”

Best Collaborative Music Video: Matt & Kim with Soulja Boy and Andrew W.K. – “I’m A Goner”

Those were just a few of the music videos that have made my list for 2011. And we still have four more months left! I dunno why MTV decides to have an award show for the year’s best music videos when it’s only two thirds of the way through. Do you? Somebody please tell me, why?!?!?! Or better yet, don’t tell me. Really, some things are just better left unknown. Like what is it that Denny’s does to their chicken tenders that keeps me coming back? If I knew what terrible awful secret ingredient they mixed in I’m sure I’d never go back, and that can’t happen.

Do you have a favorite music video from this past year that should be on my list? Let me know!

_Rufus, up up and away!
